Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Musuem
Visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum while I was at Kyushuu. It was truly an eye opening experience.
A bit of background information. The 1st atomic bomb was dropped at Hiroshima, and the 2nd one, at Nagasaki 3 days later, on August 9th, 1945.
The museum is basically a showcase of all the real time impacted objects at Nagasaki at that era. Very intriguing. All the metal structures, buildings, household products etc within a diameter of 2KM had all been impacted by the flash of heat/fire/blast of the atomic bomb, and of course radiation.
We (maybe not the Japanese) have all been taught about the 2nd world war and the 2 atomic bombs that ended it all (which undeniably started the misery of millions if you see it from another point of view), we are all well aware who started it all, and who was the responsible party of it all.
While visiting the museum, my mind had been ingrained with all the casualties and damages done to the land. The more objects I viewed, the further I proceeded, the more i felt, 'What an atrocity the atomic bomb could do...', 'how could they ever drop something so disastrous, so evil that killed so many ppl and impacted many generations thereafter'... etc. And then my mind jerked. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE MUSEUM WAS TELLING ITS VISITORS! That the bombs have caused all these damages. Oh my god... this is not right! The impression and image projected by the museum was all about damages and casualties done by the bombs. Nothing about the causes that led to this!
It got me thinking. For visitors w/o prior knowledge of the 2nd world war, what would they think? That the Americans were the one who brought the disasters? That we must curtail the superpower of the America? That we must not let America be the only one who may develop nuclear power? It is soo crooked, the message that this museum is sending. I can't help but grew wary of the government that did this, of the country so hungry for power, unashamed, unapologetic of her past. Why would they want to project such an image? Who are their targeted audiences? What is their ulterior motive? Thinking of it sends a shiver down my spine... This is alarming. History is waiting to repeat itself, just waiting for its time and turn.
This is very sad... I will now start praying for world peace, more than for my own goodself.
I am not inviting arguments here. Just presenting my thoughts from what I saw. If you have something to enlighten me, pls drop me a personal mail.
