Fantastic Tioman trip
I am back from Tioman!! Gotta tell ya it was heavenly, paradise... it's like living in a dreamland... took loads and loads of pics... check them out via the link below.
Tioman pics
The scenery is just Beeaaautiful... splendid... marvelous... laidback... relaxing... my english sucks, can't find enough adjectives to describe it. well, it's typical beach resort, u get the pool, the sea, the sand, the sky and the coconut trees. I felt like time stood still there and then... that I had all the time and pleasure in the world to spend time the way I want it and I please. Man... Fantastic~!
First day we arrived there pretty late, 5pm. Bus arrived at jetty at 1030hrs, ferry scheduel was 1200hrs, so we were 1.5 hrs earlier. Worse ting, ferry was supposed to come at 12pm but delayed to 2pm! so we all just sat there and waited and waited and waited, like a bunch of fools... didn't sleep well the night before, so was pretty tired, that explains the tired look which i had on. Disappointed about the delay, and thought things were bad from the start. Finally arrived at the jetty where Berjaya is, "what? why look so kampung one?" "and no nice beach?" Well, that was not the resort yet! a white bus came and fetch us to the resort. And nearing the resort, "wat? it's chalet?" I thought it would be some nice stylish hotel!! "Calm down, this is Berjaya, it can't be that bad." So in the end, it was not too shabby, just fine. And all my complaints and grumpiness melted away at the sight of the beach and sea... Because we arrived late, didn't do much, just walked around taking pictures, exploring the place. dinner was good, really good. after dinner, more walks along the beach, and sat in the open air bar drinking, enjoying sea breeze, listening to the waves, watching performances...
Second day, it rained a bit, sky was not so as blue in the morning, but turned fine after a while. Breakfast was fantastic. Ate a lot. Then sat by the pool side enjoying the sky (which later turned bright and blue), the pool, the sea view, the mountain view, the beach view, the views of kids playing, jumping, swimming, of course hunks and babes strutting around. Come to think of it, there weren't many hunks and babes around... only 2 hunks and 2 babes, me inclusive. Hehe~~
Went snorkelling in the afternoon after a bit of practise... self practise tht is. I dun swim, i'm a bit of a hydrophobic, so immersing my face in the water is an ultra tough task for me. That was the practise which I was referring to. We proceeded to snorkelling trip after my little 'practise'. The boat sent us both to a float nearby, where the water is abt 5m deep, and left us there all by ourselves!!! Goodness, here are 2 visitors who can't swim and they left us there by ourselves!?!?! Even though we had life jackets, masks and flippers, that does not mean we can swim >500m back to shore!! Anyway, we snorkelled, (by snorkel i mean holding on to the float all the time while facing down trying to look what lies beneath, sounds creepy). Yea, the view of the corals and fishes was not sth i wud call fantastic. the corals were all dead, and the entire seabed was filled with it. Dun see what's so pretty abt it. So we got bored of it after few minutes, sat on the float waiting for the boat to come back and fetch us, and it never came. We were there waving frantically to the shores and and other boats passing by but noone came to our rescue... abt half an hour ltr, a passing-by boat with glass bottom came by, and saved us. Whew~ didn't die of dehydration.
After the not-so-interesting snorkelling trip, went back to the beach for more photo taking and sun tanning and ppl watching. Then dinner was steamboat, which left my stomach feeling discomfort for the entire night, and 1 night worth of beach strolling, ppl watching, star gazing, sea breeze bathing and waves viewing was wasted... had wanted to drink milo so badly while i was suffering fr my stomach discomfort, and there just wasn't any available... that is the only time which i craved so much for a hot cup of milo and could not hav it... i will, from now on, bring several sachets of milo with me everytime i go for a trip.
Had applied lots of sunscreen so skin had not burnt at all. On the last day, we were so excited that our ferry had an open deck, that we sat on deck throughout the 95 min ride back to mainland, w/o applying any sunscreen at all. well, it was not that hot and we didn't think we would get burnt. From that 95 min ride, our skin turned red and burnt... I don't mind being red, but it's kinda itchy... which i am sure it will peel and crack if i scratch it. So, that explains why in my pics, i dun look red but look like a cooked lobster now. Well, a holiday to the beach wouldn't be complete without a tanned/burnt look, would it?
Berjaya Tioman, I will be back.
