First dental appointment with Martin

Went to see Martin for my dental appointment today. he's my jc mate, doing dentistry 3rd yr now. here's the verdict:
my gums are unhealthy and need treatment. they bleed easily. i need some fillings done too. i had thought i wanted to do crowning on one of my front incisors, but martin's prof advised otherwise. she said since so little of my teeth are showing, it will not be ideal to do crowning because there's not gonna be enough tooth for redenture (or whatever the term is), that means not enuf surface for the new tooth to hold on to. she suggested contouring instead. what is contouring? ok, it involves cutting away the excess flesh covering my teeth to let more teeth show!!!! *OUCH* can u imagine how much tht is gonna hurt?? of course that'll involve anaesthesia, but after the operation it's gonna pain like hell i bet. but that also means, you will not see my upper gum when i smile! my teeth will be longer and more beautiful!

several x-rays were taken, and i could see all 4 of my wisdom teeth in proper shapes waiting to rupture!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! they look sooo scary!! especially the bottom two!! they are both pointing at the adjacent teeth as if they were ready to push the obstructions out!!! the sight of them is really scary!!! martin and his partner adviced me to extract them all. so i asked since they are unruptured, how are you going to extract them? he said operation is needed in this case, to cut open the gum(or flesh? or the platform? i dunno what it's called) and extract them!! it'll cost abt 100 bucks each (which is way cheaper than outside) martin says that some ppl might not have wisdom teeth and it's determined by gene apparently. i'm very concerned abt the wisdom teeth becos from the xray, they are touching the adjacent teeth and some time soon, they will start to pain me!! now THAT, is what i'm worrying about...

let me calculate, $200 for wisdom teeth extraction, cost of contouring unknown, probly $100, $5 for a filling, i guess i'm gonna have 4 fillings to be done so that makes $20. i'm estimating i'll hav to spend $400 or so on my teeth!!! OH MY GOODNESS! tht is hefty! i can't afford that!! i'm thinking i might choose to go back to kluang to extract my wisdom teeth, it costs a hell lot cheaper. RM80 for an extraction, let's say RM100 lar. And if i go to the general hospital, that will cost less! I shall see... see my conditions, my schedule and my wallet... money saving is my first priority.

and apparently, coffee and coke cause staining and i happen to love them both! no wonder my teeth are so stained... besides, cola is very acidic, pH3.3. tht is not very good for your teeth. so drink less next time. or drop it if u could.

i'll be seeing martin again on friday. so follow up! and i will tell you how my teeth are! haha~
