Avril's Concert
2nd Apr, Avril's concert. But that was not the only thing on that day.
I had to attend Maersk briefing in NTU, scheduled at 1330. so i was supposed to take bus to mrt then to boonlay. strangely i took a bus that headed for buona vista when it would be more wise to take one that goes to clementi. took me like 45 minutes to reach clementi when it could be 15 minutes had i not taken bus at the wrong side of the road. ok, so i got to the mrt. I boarded the east-bound train when i wanna go boonlay. how ridiculous. I was not at all nervous abt the briefing cos i knew that it was just gonna be a BRIEFing, and nothing watsoever i could do to ensure myself greater chance. but my mind was just so occupied, by what? i dunno.
reached the LT, fairly early, despite all the dumb things i did. i thot the LT would be hard to locate but no. there was abt 500 applicants, AND there was another session in the morning. simple math would tell you there are more than 1000 applicants in singapore alone. who knows if they are having more sessions next saturday. the number is not surprising since i read on the website that there was some close to 2000 applicants year ago.
there was noone i knew when i got there. felt so lonely. then i saw Norman!! u hav no idea how happy i was. Ha~ finally someone i know. quite a lot of his classmates were there. then he said he wished he had not known so many ppl there. i sure thought otherwise. we were all given some psychometric tests, there was 12 minutes to finish off 50 Qs. they were not MCQs. some calculations, some reasoning. we filled up some forms, then some previous trainee shared his experience. i was expecting at the very least a cup of mineral water. N even expected tea to be served, but there was noting. NONE at all. there was no water cooler nearby, even tho the canteen was just nearby, all the stalls were closed. only one stall was opened, that was McD. naturally u wud expect a very long queue.... i was so so thirsty... and hungry.
DAM i shud be more excited about the concert at night but it was the last thing on my mind.
despite my support for Avril, the concert was badly organised i have to admit. first, her concert only lasted for an hour despite the ticket claim 8-10pm. first half hour, some bad performed. the next half hour, they were adjusting all the instruments. we only got to see avril at 9pm. and she left promptly at 10pm. are rock concerts always like this? cos i went for chinese concerts before and they lasted 2 hours, full. i felt cheated. perhaps the only good thing was we got to sit at $75 seat even tho we paid $50. apparently many tickets were not sold and they decided to pool the audience and close our blocks. that was probably the only good thing. perhaps she is stil not that famous here, that or the ticket pricings are just too high. the standing area in the middle was not even half filled! my lesson learnt, never attend rock concert in indoor stadium. standing would be better. maybe all rock concerts shud be held in padang! or disco would be good too.
